If you didn’t know our great friend Jurgen Zoller @iamjurgs passed away on the the 3rd of April 2023
It seems fitting that today we announce this on what would have been his 58th birthday
With the blessing of his family we are going to honour him with a build challenge each year
Name: GBC presents the Jurgen Zoller cup (Jurgs cup)
Dates- Starts 24th April 2023. Ends 23rd April 2024, each year these will be the start and end dates
Entry- Donation to either the leukaemia foundation(which is his family’s chosen charity) a local leukaemia charity or buy a Jurgs T-Shirt from our teespring store which the proceeds will go to the leukaemia foundation.
With the entry donation gives you the opportunity to vote
Donation is preferred but if you just want to build along that’s fine
It’s up to you what you do with the finished guitar, if you want to keep it that’s fine, if you want to sell it or auction it off for charity, totally up to you

Also build videos are welcomed and we will have a playlist on the guitarbuilderscollective youtube channel
Voting and Judging- will be done via our website and links will be sent out, 3/2/1 votes for bragging rights and the winner receiving the Jurgs cup
Results will be announced 2 weeks after the 23rd of April
We will ask for a receipt of your donation to be eligible to vote
Out of respect to Jurgen he will be the 2023 champion
Theme- this year will be use what you have on hand. We chose this theme because this is the way most of the original gbc guys came into contact with Jurgen
If you don’t have anything local DIY/hardware store for the timber or even a kit guitar if you don’t have access to all the tools you need

Please no complaining we are doing this with the best intentions and to honour our mate Jurgen. If you don’t like someone’s build, keep it out of the comments and keep it to yourself
This will be an annual build series, we chose a year time frame because we know people will want to compete in the ggbo, we also get that people have day jobs and families
If you know of anyone who would like to join please tell them about it, this is a chance to grow a friendly supportive community, it’s not a serious build off
And lastly please remember this is to honour one of the nicest guys we have met, Jurgs was always complimentary to everyone he came across
